Research & Technology Development Consultancy

Purpose

To provide a Consultant to advise on potential technology development opportunities that may be realised by competitive bidding into UK and European funding initiatives, usually via collaborative partnerships.

Method

The Client will outline the technology to a WPM consultant specialising in this field. The WPM consultant will advise on potential bidding opportunities (following agreed concept definition if required). The management team responsible for approving the bid will discuss the options with the consultant in respect of Go/No-Go decisions and approval of the Win Strategy. A WPM Bid Manager or the WPM Consultant will be available to provide full bid management consultancy if required following a positive Go/No Go decision. The consultant will assess the potential of the proposed technology and examine the possible benefits of exploitation. He/she will advise the Management team on development options prior to the Go/No Go decision and will be available for further consultation during the course of the bid and subsequent contract management and implementation phases if required. The Consultant will define the resources required to produce a quality proposal in the timescale required and will manage these resources for the time they are assigned to the bid. He/she will also liaise with the Client account team throughout the bid. The account team should retain responsibility as the primary point of contact with the Client's customer. At the end of the placement the Consultant will ensure that there is a controlled handover of the Bid by producing a Lessons Learned report, which will contain recommendations for follow-on actions.

Reporting & Reviewing

The Consultant will:

  • Review the technology development potential and identify business benefits
  • Organise and chair concept rationalisation meetings if required
  • Prepare a report on the subsequent identified opportunities prior to the Go/No Go decision
  • Present findings to Management/Bid Team

The Bid Manager will:

  • Produce weekly Highlight Reports to the management team, Hiring Manager and WPM Sponsor

Assumptions

  • A Terms of Reference or Job Description is agreed
  • Workspace at the Client's office will be provided
  • Access to Client systems as necessary to fulfil the role of Bid Manager/Consultant
  • The Consultant is allocated to the Client as required during the period specified subject to availability - any change to the duration or utilisation requires one month's notice
  • Should the placement be cancelled, WPM's standard cancellation terms will apply

Price

Pricing will be agreed prior to the start of the placement and is dependent on the duration and location of the assignment.
