PRINCE2™ Consultancy
PRINCE® (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured method for effective project management. It is the de facto standard used extensively by UK government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally. PRINCE2™, the method, is in the public domain, offering non-proprietorial best-practice guidance on project management. PRINCE® is, however, a registered trademark of CCTA (now OGC - Office of Government Commerce). The key features of PRINCE2™ are:
- Its focus on business justification
- A defined organisation structure for the project management team
- Its emphasis on dividing the project into manageable and controllable stages
- Its flexibility to be applied at a level appropriate to the project
PRINCE2™ is a process-based approach to project management. The Processes define the activities to be carried out during the project. In addition, PRINCE2™ describes a number of Components and Techniques that are applied within the appropriate activities. The PRINCE2™ process model, consists of eight distinctive management processes, covering the activities from setting the project off on the right track, through controlling and managing the project’s progress, to the completion of the project. The common Planning process is used by many of the other processes.
